THOMAS WRIGHT'S OBSERVATORY
Designed by Thomas Wright in the second half of the 18th Century. Located at Westerton, near Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.
Thomas Wright was born at Byers Green in Co Durham in 1711, and died there in 1786.
He became famous as an astronomer, mathematician, instrument maker and garden designer, and published a number of books on various academic topics.
